Kunihusu
Hi, I'm Mackenzie, some people call me Max. I'm in 12th grade and lead 2 clubs at my school, Street Girls Aid and GISS (Global Issues Service Summit). I'm from the U.S. but I currently live in Ghana and hope to attend university in Canada. Despite my basic interests I'm a fairly out going person and live an extraordinary life.
My view of climate change:
I personally believe that climate change has become inevitable because there are too many people who are ignorant to the problem. For example, here in Accra there are public transportation vans called "tro-tros" that spew black smoke from their exhaust pipes, that can't be good for the environment. However the people of Ghana rely on that cheap form of transportation in order to get to their jobs as well as the drivers rely on that tro-tro in order to make money so they can do things as minor as eat that day. Climate change doesn't directly affect them and so they are ignorant to it because they are more concerned with being able to provide for themselves. So, as much as I would love to say that we can actually save the world I do not believe it is possible.
My hopes for a sustainable future:
I do not know exactly what my hopes for a sustainable future are but what I do know is that I have a passion for people, education, and service. I consider myself to be a leader among my piers and I believe that my qualities combined with my interests will one day enable me to further our sustainability.
